Stylish Cocktail Creators

It's cocktail hour with TOAST

Whether you like it mixed or muddled, shaken or stirred, it’s time to get the party started this summer with TOAST’s top picks of some of the most stylish cocktail creators out there.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for…COCKTAILS!! That’s how it goes, right?

OK so I might have used some artistic license there, but summertime calls for some boozy botanical blends and nothing gets a glorious garden party (or any kind of indoor or al fresco fun for that matter) off to a flying start quite like a delicious, freshly mixed cocktail creation or two, or three, or maybe even four - summer can make one terribly thirsty after all…

Undoubtedly my favourite o’clock – there’s no denying that ‘cocktail’ is quite an unusual word when you come to think about it. There are several theories floating around regarding its origins, and the one widely considered most likely takes us all the way back to America in the early 19th century, when tavern keepers stored their spirits in casks. When the casks got near empty the dregs, or tailings as they were known then, would be all mixed together in one barrel and sold at a reduced price. The contents would then be poured from the cask spout, which was referred to as the cock, so patrons wanting this cheaper concoction would therefore come in and ask for ‘cock tailings.’ Oh, how times have changed.

Today’s cocktail menus can feature anything and everything from herb infused vodkas to edible flowers, gold leaf garnishes to foams, smokes and vapours - the possibilities are endless. And then there’s the presentation to consider – gone are the days of tea cups and bog standard martini glasses, 2017 is all about chunky vintage crystal (think Mad Men) and the weird and the wonderful – I am talking about mini swimming pools, vintage tins and zip lock bags. Seriously.

From Manhattans to Mojitos, Mai Tais to Martinis, cocktails are the most versatile, pleasing and ever-popular drink on the menu and when they are done well, nothing beats ‘em. So if you’re planning a summer party to remember and you‘re after some innovation and tasty cocktail creations to delight your guests, here are TOAST’s top picks of some of the very best cocktail creators out there ready to come and mix things up and your next bash…
