Romantic Ideas For Your Valentines

TOAST's pick of the best romantic ideas for your next event

February is widely considered the most romantic month of the year, mainly due to Valentine’s Day which falls slap bang in the middle, but February doesn’t have to be all about couples – it’s also a time to celebrate love in all areas of life. So whether you’re planning a amorous do for two or something bigger, here are TOAST’s top picks of how add a splash of romance to your next event.

Tuesday 14th February 2017 marks the supposedly most romantic 24 hours of the year – all thanks to a priest from Rome who lived in the third century AD called – you guessed it – St Valentine.

The theory is that marriage had been banned by the Emperor at the time (Emperor Claudius II) as he believed that married men made bad soldiers, and so St Valentine is thought to have arranged marriages in secret. When the Emperor discovered his treason, St Valentine was sentenced to death; however, during his time in prison he apparently fell in love with the jailer’s daughter, and sent her a love letter signed ‘from your Valentine’ on February 14th - the day of his execution. How romantic. Sort of…

And so still today, the 14th of February is THE day for displaying your love and affection for that special someone – either with a card or a gift, or a thoughtful gesture. But February doesn’t have to be all about couples – it’s also a time to celebrate love in all areas of life; be that the love shared between friends, family, and anyone else in between!

So whether you’re planning a romantic do for two or something bigger - here are TOAST’s top picks of how unleash the love at your next special occasion.

Include The Aphrodisiacs

Get your guests in the mood for love with one of the most famous aphrodisiacs out there - fresh oysters. Give the Mother Shuckers a call and they will bring their super stylish travelling oyster bar to you! Their talented team will wow your guests by shucking Britain's freshest oysters on the spot before presenting them beautifully, complete with a selection of tasty dressings to compliment. Their bar is fully collapsible and fits into a range of spaces, so they need none of your kitchen or prep space. For larger events, they can also provide their 'usherette girls' to mingle with your guests, whilst serving fresh oysters from bespoke serving trays.

Instead, check out Bonbon - a luxury balloon company based in East London who create seriously chic balloons. Bonbons come in a rainbow of colours and are filled with a sprinkling of trendy confetti, plus each one has a carefully decorated and cute handcrafted string. They offer a bespoke design service for private events and can explore different colours and themes to develop something totally individual for each client. Their ‘Love’ collection is red and romantic but not too in-your-face - perfect for a stylish Valentine’s celebration.

Hire him for your next do to create romantic portraits of those in pairs, or individual sketches of those that are single and ready to mingle; it makes a fun keepsake for guests to take home, too.

They can also offer cocktail masterclasses for your guests and an impressive array of ‘Molecular Mixology’ featuring foams, airs and flavoured caviar pearls. ‘Sex on The Beach’ anyone?
