Meaningful Correspondence With Stylish Stationery Emporium Papier

TOAST.Life chats to Papier's founder and CEO about why putting pen to paper is always the most meaningful way of communicating

The holidays are well and truly on their way, which means mountains of seasonal stationery - hurrah! Toast.Life chats to Taymoor Atighetchi, Founder and CEO of stylish stationery emporium Papier to get his essential guide to mastering the art of Christmas correspondence this year, plus his top stationery styling suggestions for your all your seasonal soirées.

Founded in London in 2015, online stationery emporium Papier continues to inspire people to connect with each other in a more thoughtful and personal way, and more often too. With the overload of digital messages sent every day, receiving something beautifully made and beautifully designed through the letterbox is appreciated now more than ever before, and so with Christmas fast approaching, there has never been a better time to dust off your pen and get writing.

“In this digital age, receiving post has even more value than ever - sending a happy birthday message on Facebook or saying thank you via Whatsapp just doesn’t mean as much or connect people in the same way” explains Taymoor Atighetchi, Papier’s Founder and CEO.

“Putting pen to paper will always be considered a more thoughtful way of communicating, and it will never go out of fashion.”

Ever the entrepreneur - Taymoor was just 17 when he first started selling antiques at Portobello Road Market. This experience cemented his desire to work for himself and led him to set up the online student media platform The Tab with two friends whilst studying at university. After a stint as a management consultant, Taymoor was ready to set up his own business and the idea for Papier was born.

“The concept for Papier as a site where users can order personalised, design-led invitations, stationery and greeting cards came from a lack of choice in the marketplace” he explains.

“I felt that there was an opportunity to focus on quality, both in terms of design and materials, without compromising on speed of delivery or the shopping experience.”

At Papier’s core is a love of art and design, words and of course, paper. Their carefully curated collection of designs, married with quality printing and premium paper, stands them apart from other online card and invitation sites, and the result is something you will not only want to send, but also want to receive and keep.

There are hundreds of wonderful, creative designs to choose from, including an engaging series of artist and designer collaborations, featuring the likes of House of Holland, Matthew Williamson, Katie Leamon, Moomin, Disney and more.

“Working with talented artists and designers was always something we planned to do, and working with other brands that we admire is inspiring for the team and keeps things fresh and interesting for our customers. It’s also a great way to reach new audiences” Taymoor explains.

“Taking our collaboration with Mother of Pearl as an example, it’s a brand with a loyal following, well-known in the fashion world but perhaps lesser known amongst our customer base - for us to be able to introduce such a cool and creative brand to our customers is exciting, and vice versa, Mother of Pearl fans can learn about Papier through the collaboration.”

Since it’s conception, Papier has grown in its product offering and now offers customisable notebooks and diaries, as well as a personalised children’s book and most recently, photo books. All this sits alongside its core offering of beautiful notecards, invitations and thank you notes and a whole host of event stationery, from menus and places names to save the dates, table plans and more, and as the party season is almost upon us and Christmas is fast approaching, it’s time to start planning some sensational stationery.

“People send fewer cards each year, but we are hoping to lead the trend to champion the handwritten message” Taymoor enthuses.

“Next year I hope to receive more letters rather than junk mail through my letterbox!”
