Cherry Blossom Valentine

Love is in the air, so be inspired by this romantic styling by Party Squared

This week has been one of love and blossoms, beautiful bouquets and romantic tones of red and pink, so we at TOAST.Life wanted to share one of our favourite styled shoots of the season, from Victoria Reed, Creative Director and Wedding Stylist at Party Squared, to give you some romantic inspiration for your wedding or special occasion this Spring.

With new year proposals a plenty and Valentines still very much in the air, this stunning Cherry Blossom shoot provides a perfect balance of romance and sophistication for those newly engaged couples looking for some romantic and intimate styling ideas.

Curated by Victoria Reed, Creative Director and Wedding Stylist, Party Squared in collaboration with Louise Stokes, Floral Designer,  The Botanical Shed providing wedding décor, beautiful styling and flowers for weddings and other celebrations. Styled Shoot charmingly captured by Laura Jane Photography.

"We anticipate the rise in popularity of the sweetheart table, a table for two, instead of the more traditional wedding party top table in 2018 and 2019 weddings" says Victoria. "It is for that reason we chose to feature this romantic and intimate concept in our styled shoot.

"The venue, a converted cattle barn was perfectly imperfect. The many contrasting features led us to choosing it for the shoot. Its irregular brick walls in warm colours, the abundance of cool natural light and the interesting geometric feature wall, a modern addition to the building, were all incorporated into in the styling design."

The shoot was specifically focusing on bringing opposites together, couples, colours, textures and materials.

"We visualised cosy seating and a romantic candle lit table for two. A snug vintage sofa, perfect for a loving couple was sourced by Louise to compliment the surroundings and add to the cosy vibe" explains Victoria.

Central to the mood of the styling was the colour palette. Looking to nature in early spring, Victoria chose the beautiful Cherry Blossom tree in its many variations, as inspiration for the shoot colour scheme.

"Celebrations take place in Japan when these trees are in blossom. Family and friends join together, much like at a wedding, to enjoy food, drink and music. This seemed to be the perfect starting point for my concept" adds Victoria. "We chose luxurious David Austin roses in pink hues and an explosion of deep and vibrant reds set against grey green foliage and linen.

"The tablescape design was simple and uncluttered to allow the space to remain intimate. Picking out the cool grey undertones in our colour scheme, silver metallic table decorations, a rising trend in 2018-19 weddings, and marble place names were used to add a touch of luxe, and to contrast the warmer colours used in the floral arrangements."

"We wanted to create a backdrop for a ceremony table. Louise set to sourcing our circular 2m floral wreath. It’s a nod to the popular flower wall backdrop, but with a more unique and creative look. It is understated and sophisticated in its simplicity. The moon gate backdrop is versatile and multifunctional. It can be used as a ceremony backdrop, behind a top table or cake table, as a backdrop for wedding photos."

Victoria and her team placed artisan lanterns at either side of the ceremony table to mirror the geometric backdrop whilst maintaining the romantic and intimate feel. The lanterns and moon gate are a vailable to dry hire from Party Squared  and both can be dressed in either fresh or silk flowers in any colour scheme by The Botanical Shed.

"We love the idea of hanging flowers and accessorises. We strongly recommend considering hanging decorations in your venue for impact and adding depth to a wedding design. I sourced large geometric shapes suitable to hold the flowers and Louise made a floral crown style arrangement, full of roses and soft Ruscus, which she affixed to the top of shape. They hung with the smaller Himmeli and the effect was stunning.

"We love to combine colours with metallics, and use a variety of textures and materials in our collaborations. We both love modern weddings and trying out new ideas and trends, making us the perfect team. We hope you take some inspiration from our creations and enjoy Laura’s stunning photography."
