&feast’s honey mustard sausages

We all appreciate a good canapé at a party and in our recent interview with imaginative event caterers &feast, they shared a few of their top tips for canapé success and now, here is one of their most popular recipes for you to try at home...

‘One of our canapés that goes down the best at parties is actually our honey mustard sausages, with toasted sesame and mustard creme fraiche - they may sound simple but they taste amazing and generally make people happy, and that's what we're aiming for!’

Perfect for Halloween, fireworks night and all those Christmas parties to come, here is &Feast’s recipe for the ultimate Honey Mustard Sausages. 

&feast’s Honey Mustard Sausages 

with toasted sesame and mustard crème fraiche

For the sausages
  • You want to use really good quality sausages - we use Macken Brothers' plain cocktail sausages and one pack would generally serve 20 people for a canapé party
  • Wholegrain mustard
  • Clear honey 
  • Toasted sesame seeds

For the dip

  • Crème fraiche
  • Wholegrain mustard
  • Mayonnaise
  • Salt

Method

  • Using a pair of kitchen scissors, cut the string of sausage into a large oven dish. Don't worry about them touching but try not to pile them on top of one another as they wont colour evenly.
  • Generously spoon equal amounts of honey and mustard onto the sausages. How much depends on how sticky you want the end results but I would suggest around 2 heaped tablespoons of each per packet.
  • Cook at around 170C fan for 30mins stirring every 10mins. By then the honey and mustard should be forming a sticky glaze.
  • Turn the oven up to 180C for another 5-10mins for extra colour. Season to taste.
  • Mix about 3 parts crème fraiche with 2 parts mustard and 1 part mayonnaise and season to taste.
  • Serve the sausages warm, sprinkled with toasted Sesame seeds and the dip on the side.
  • Napkins are essential for this one!
